Black on Black in Hong Kong

Fortunately (or not), I’ve fallen into a black hole lately when it comes to my wardrobe, especially when the weather hasn’t been very decisive as to whether it’s still fall or fading into spring. In summertime I love patterns and colours, but recently I’ve discovered that black on black isn’t actually all that bad!

When you’re putting two of the same together, whether it’s denim on denim, pattern on pattern, or repeating colours, it’s always a good idea to break it up with some accessories that add a touch of different colour or texture. Think a belt, a cute cross body bag, or even just a statement necklace or earrings.

Like this outfit that I’m wearing, even though it’s black on black (on black), I broke it up with a light denim shirt around the waist to give the illusion of a better waistline, and of course a popping pair of sunglasses and a simple silver GUESS watch that is both practical and adds an element of elegance to the whole look. I chose sneakers for a more casual vibe, but you can easily dress it up with a pair of patent peep toe heels or silver oxfords.

Don’t be afraid of mixing colours, and definitely don’t be afraid of wearing monotone when you feel like it. Just have fun with it!
